Blue Barn Horticultural Consulting Ltd. ("Blue Barn," "we," "us") provides horticultural consulting services to licensed cannabis producers in Canada. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it.

 

We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

What we collect

We collect only what we need to respond to you and deliver our services:

 

• Contact information — name, business email address, phone number, company name, and job title, provided when you submit a form on our website, complete a LinkedIn lead generation form, or contact us directly.

• Business information — details about your facility or operation that you choose to share, such as approximate canopy size, cultivation methods, or current fertilizer program.

• Website usage data — standard analytics collected by our website host, including IP address, browser type, pages visited, and referring site.

 

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 19.

Why we collect it

We use personal information to:

 

• respond to inquiries and provide the information you requested;

• prepare quotes, proposals, and consulting deliverables;

• deliver and administer our services, including invoicing;

• send occasional updates about our services, where you have consented to receive them; and

• meet our legal, regulatory, and accounting obligations.

 

We do not use your information for any purpose other than those described here without first obtaining your consent.

Consent

By submitting a form or contacting us, you consent to our collecting and using your information for the purposes above. You may withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us at the address below, subject to legal and contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide certain services to you.

Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.

 

We share information only with service providers who help us operate our business, and only to the extent they need it to perform their function. These currently include our website host, email provider, accounting and invoicing software, and advertising platforms such as LinkedIn. We may also disclose information where required by law.

 

Where we engage a laboratory to run tissue or solution analysis on your behalf, the samples and associated facility information are shared with that laboratory for the purpose of completing the analysis.

Storage and safeguards

Some of our service providers store data on servers located outside of Canada, including in the United States. While your information is in another country, it may be accessible to the courts, law enforcement, and national security authorities of that country.

 

We protect personal information with safeguards appropriate to its sensitivity, including access controls, encrypted transmission, and limiting access to those who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes it was collected for, or as required by law. Records related to client engagements are retained for a minimum of seven years to satisfy Canadian tax and accounting requirements. Inquiries that do not result in an engagement are deleted within two years.

Your rights

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct anything inaccurate, or ask us to delete it. Email us at the address below and we will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to verify your identity before releasing information.

Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies to keep the site functioning and to understand how visitors use it. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work properly as a result.
